Local leaders and residents are working together to explore a proposed reorganization focused on protecting essential services, strengthening public safety, and planning responsibly for the future.
Why explore reorganization?
State tax law changes (Senate Bill 1) and growing state-level discussion about eliminating township government are increasing pressure on small towns. The proposed reorganization allows Richland Township and Ellettsville to:
- Protect essential services
- Strengthen fire and emergency response
- Support long-term economic stability and growth
- Keep land use decisions local for Richland Township and Ellettsville residents
What’s happening now?
A Reorganization Committee, supported by resident-led subcommittees, are preparing a full Plan of Reorganization.
Residents are encouraged to participate by applying to serve on subcommittees and attending meetings.
